thakethi.com/Male', MaldivesAbout
Thakethi is a Dhivehi content publisher, and producer of educational and ornamental items. We focus primarily on humorous and educational material, and work exclusively with local artists and authors. Our current catalogue lives up to our name (meaning “stuff” in colloquial Dhivehi), consisting of books, educational products, stationery, and accessories for all ages.
The Thakethi brand stands for authenticity on contemporary terms. Our products juxtapose traditional Maldivian cultural designs and imagery with modern sensibilities, wit, and warmth. It is important to us that we celebrate not only our past but who we are now.
Our Story
Thakethi’s origins are deeply personal. It is founder Aminath Shareehan Ibrahim’s own intervention to the growing fissure between traditional Dhivehi stories and the younger members of her family. Aiming to bridge the gap between good visual design and quality Dhivehi material, Thakethi was formed to create content and products that matched the charm and appeal of available English material.
Vision
Our vision is for the wide availability of high calibre, locally made Dhivehi content for all ages. As the market begins to fill out, and our vision inches towards reality, Thakethi’s aim remains unchanged: to deliver variety, quality, and accessibility. We believe this is only possible with a fair and sustainable partnership model that benefits Dhivehi talent.
Values
Collaboration is the core value of the Thakethi ethos. We hire local talent on project bases with the intention of forming lasting partnerships. This extends to our support and relationships with other Dhivehi creators and self-publishers, as our main aim is the availability of quality Dhivehi content.
