Ruth Shah

Ruth Shah is Head of Bayer Co.Lab Berlin, which is part of a global network of state-of-the-art incubators supporting early-stage life science and biotech ventures. In July 2025, she was named Top 40 under 40 for her leadership driving the economy and innovation in the capital region. Ruth joined Bayer in 2018 on the International Future Leadership Program in Product Supply; a 2-year leadership development program where she had assignments in Germany (Berlin and Wuppertal), the USA (Berkeley, California) and Switzerland (Basel). Prior to her current position, Ruth was Director, Strategic Program Lead Gene Editing, where she drove the strategic pathfinding and operational build-up of gene editing activities. For 2.5years, she also served as Global Co-Lead of MERGE, Bayer’s company-wide Business Resource Group advocating for multigenerational workplace practices and in May 2024 was awarded a Rising Star award from the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association in acknowledgement of her leadership in DE&I and actions to advance women’s careers. Ruth has a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Edinburgh, where she developed CRISPR/Cas and viral technologies to engineer neuronal cells for disease modelling.
